Travel guide
Boston Logan International (BOS) is 15 minutes from downtown via the MBTA Blue Line. Gillette Stadium, however, is in Foxborough — 30 miles south of Boston. Match-day commuter rail from South Station is the default option; the journey takes 60 minutes.
Downtown Boston is compact and walkable: Fenway for the Red Sox, Back Bay for upscale hotels, Cambridge across the river for Harvard/MIT cultural stops. For proximity to Gillette, Providence (Rhode Island) is 30 minutes south with cheaper hotels and its own walkable downtown.
Watch parties fill Fenway's sports-bar strip on Lansdowne Street and every pub in Southie. Signature food: New England clam chowder (not "Manhattan" — that is treason in Boston), a Boston cream donut (not a "Boston cream pie," which is a cake), and Italian food in the North End. Local quirk: Bostonians distinguish between "wicked" (an intensifier: "wicked good") and "wicked pissah" (an older-Boston expression meaning "excellent"); both are still in use.
Climate notes
Boston's June and July are warm and humid — highs in the low 80s°F with moderate humidity. Afternoon thunderstorms are possible but less frequent than the South. Gillette Stadium is open-air.
