Travel guide
Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International (ATL) is the world's busiest airport and 20 minutes from Mercedes-Benz Stadium by MARTA rail — take the Red or Gold line to GWCC/CNN Center station, directly adjacent to the stadium entrance.
Downtown Atlanta works for match-first tourists: Centennial Park, Aquarium, and the stadium are all walkable. Midtown is the go-to for food and nightlife — Piedmont Park on weekends, Ponce City Market for food-hall dining. Buckhead is the upscale hotel option, 15 minutes north by MARTA.
Watch parties go big in Atlanta — this is a sports town — with the Battery Atlanta (near Truist Park) and Centennial Park hosting official fan zones. Soul food and the South: Mary Mac's Tea Room for an Atlanta institution, or Busy Bee Cafe for the soul food experience. Local quirk: the "A" in Atlanta is sacred; do not shorten to "Hotlanta" unless you want to be politely ignored.
Climate notes
Atlanta's June and July are hot and humid — highs in the upper 80s°F with 70-85% humidity. Afternoon thunderstorms are near-daily but the Mercedes-Benz Stadium's retractable roof keeps weather out of the match experience.
