Travel guide
Kansas City International (MCI) is 35 minutes from downtown and 40 minutes from Arrowhead Stadium. No rail connects the airport to downtown; rideshare is the practical option. The KC Streetcar loops downtown for free but doesn't reach Arrowhead — stadium-bound traffic routes through I-70 and parking-heavy pre-match logistics.
Downtown KC's Power & Light District is the watch-party headquarters, plus the Crossroads Arts District for a slightly more indie scene. Westport is the bar crawl neighborhood. For a quieter base, the Country Club Plaza has the best hotel density and the best walkability outside downtown.
Kansas City barbecue is non-negotiable — Joe's Kansas City (at a gas station, legendary) and Arthur Bryant's are the obligatory stops. The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is the best non-World-Cup cultural pull. Local quirk: KC is in two states (Missouri and Kansas) and locals will clarify which side they're from unprompted.
Climate notes
Kansas City's June and July are hot and humid — highs in the upper 80s°F with thunderstorm risk on 40% of afternoons. Arrowhead is open-air, so weather delays are possible. Evening matches are the better conditions.
