World Cup 2026 Group F: Netherlands · Japan · Tunisia · Sweden
Netherlands-Japan is must-watch; Sweden returning makes this the deepest Pot-4 slot.
Group Analysis
Group F is the tournament's most symmetrical puzzle. All four sides have been at a World Cup quarter-final or better within the last twenty years, and none currently sit outside FIFA's top 45. Netherlands bring the tactical maturity of a Ronald Koeman rebuild and an attack anchored by Cody Gakpo and Xavi Simons. Japan have been the best Asian side of the last decade, coming off a 2022 group-stage win over Germany and Spain in the same tournament. Sweden return with a new generation built around Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres, scoring as prolifically as any European attack in qualifying.
Tunisia are the quietest of the four but nothing like a Pot 4 side on paper. Their Qatar 2022 run that ended with a win over defending champions France has matured; they have added a European-based midfielder pool and a coach who trusts his defensive structure. In a group where every match could be decided by a goal, Tunisia are the most likely source of a one-result upset.
The question that defines Group F is less who advances and more who stumbles. Two of these four will miss the Round of 32 — a statistical outcome that did not exist in the 32-team format. Expect three of three matchdays to carry knockout tension.

Prediction
Netherlands first by quality. Japan second by tournament know-how. Sweden third and alive for best-third. Tunisia fourth with upset risk.
