Travel guide
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is 20 minutes from downtown by SkyTrain Canada Line (C$9.20). BC Place sits downtown at the base of False Creek — walking distance from Yaletown and a 5-minute SkyTrain ride from downtown hotels.
Vancouver punches above its weight on walkability. Stay in Yaletown for a 10-minute walk to BC Place plus the best patio-dining block in the city. Gastown is the heritage-brick district for cocktail bars and independent designers; Kitsilano is the beach-and-yoga side of town if you want a daytime break from match logistics.
Watch parties concentrate in Yaletown on sunny-afternoon kickoffs and in Gastown for late-night European matches. Signature food: the Vancouver sushi scene (genuinely among the world's best) and a strong Asian fusion pedigree. Local quirk: Vancouverites will pretend they do not care about rain but carry an umbrella everywhere — and they apologize more than any other Canadians.
Climate notes
Vancouver's June and July are comfortably mild — highs in the low 70s°F and nights in the upper 50s°F. Rain probability is moderate; light afternoon showers are typical but rarely wash out matches. BC Place has a retractable roof, so rain plans are built in.
