Historia
Czech Republic return to the World Cup for the first time since 2006 — and with a point to prove. As successors to the Czechoslovakia sides that reached two World Cup finals (1934, 1962), Czech football carries a proud tradition that the current generation has struggled to live up to at major tournaments.
Qualification was hard-fought through the European playoffs. Group A with Mexico, South Korea and South Africa is balanced — no group of death, but no easy group either. The Czechs' best chance is to target South Africa and compete with Korea for second place. A third-place finish could still be enough under the new 48-team format.
